J Camps Open Positions
J Camps, located at the JCC of Greater Baltimore, is looking for energetic, dedicated staff members who are interested in working in a fun, creative camp environment this summer. Our programming has a variety of focuses including aquatics, arts & culture, athletics, nature, science and more with a foundation of Judaism. In addition, our training includes child development workshops, skill sharing, and certification in Basic Water Safety and CPR. We hire on a rolling basis. Our main summer season is June 24 – August 16, 2024, and we offer excellent camper discounts for summer staff. This role has the exciting responsibility of leading joyful Jewish experiences for the diverse J Camps Community. In partnership with year-round J life department, using experiential education and other methods, they will ground activities and interactions in Jewish values. They will inspire an appreciation for Jewish peoplehood to elevate the overall J Camps platform.
The position will run full-time from June 24 – August 16, 2024.
Our camp Music Specialist/ Song leader has the joyous role of bringing music to camp. Create the soundtrack to summer and build core memories for years to come. Group instruction will be both classroom style (Small groups up to 18) and large event based (Flagpole/Shabbat) to teach, sing, and/or lead campers in music-based activities. As an essential leader to the overall atmosphere of camp, this person should have presence and ability to motivate people of all ages and backgrounds.
The position will run full-time from June 24 – August 16, 2024.
Ropes Course Specialists are responsible for facilitating daily ropes course activities to campers from entering Kindergarten to our teen programs. Position will work outside on low ropes elements, zipline, and high ropes elements. This position works on a team that is led by the Head of Ropes.
The Nature Specialist will facilitate daily instruction to campers ages 4-12 in an outdoor environment primarily based in a wooded area. Most campers will participate in 1-2 nature sessions per week, depending on their age and their interests. Opportunity to use expert skills in a fun setting with wonderful staff perks!
Registered Nurse or Certified Medication Training (CMT) to provide excellent medical care to campers age 4-15 as a part of J Camps an ACA Accredited Day Camp. Opportunity to use medical skills in a fun setting with wonderful staff perks!

Habimah Arts Camp is a multi-disciplinary summer camp giving children in grades 1-6 a chance to work with master performing and visual arts teaching artists and professionals. Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Arts Education, the ideal teaching artist is prepared to be a role model within their field, has experience and loves teaching children of all ages, and has extensive experience in their art form. The ideal candidate would include someone who enjoys working with young people and/or theatre for young audiences. These positions also require teaching classes within their art form to campers. Looking for teaching artists in a variety of theatrical, visual, performance, and any similar fields. Some include, but are not limited to visual arts, dance, acting, voice, stage combat, mime, stage makeup, puppetry, musical theatre, and costume and set design.
This is a fulltime position between June 24 – August 16, 2024.
This summer, J Camps will be offering two theatre arts camps. The first is Habimah Arts Camp, a multi-disciplinary camp giving children exposure and skill-building in both visual and performing arts. Habimah counselors will assist and help support the teaching artists to ensure that campers have a successful and enjoyable experience, as well as assist in the smooth run of the final showcase. With the guidance and mentorship of the director, selected senior counselors will gain valuable arts education experience by leading age-appropriate classes that are within their expertise.
For two four-week sessions, Children’s Theatre Production Camp (CTPC) will offer additional performance production-based camps, preparing full length age appropriate musicals. Selected counselors will be working with the director to help run rehearsals, review material with campers, work backstage for the production, and any other duties assigned to them in relation to the show.
Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Arts Education, our ideal candidate is prepared to be a role model to their team and campers alike, has a can-do demeanor, has experience and loves working with children, and has experience in or avid appreciation for the performing arts. Counselors may be placed to work in one or both camps, dependent on experience.
Seeking photographers to help photograph all that camp has to offer. Tasks include taking photos of campers, staff, and activities throughout the day, to be posted to our shared photo server, social media, and used in video montages, photo book, and possibly marketing materials.
Our camp cooking specialist will have the exciting role of bringing cooking to J Camps. They will create an 8-week cooking curriculum that will teach our campers new skills. The ideal candidate will be asked to have a strong understanding of camper food allergies and Kashrut (Kosher Policy).
The Summer Administrative Assistant facilitates the efficient operation of J Camps by performing a variety of clerical tasks and ensuring quality assurance. Assisting with office preparation, administrative aspects, and providing general customer support to families/staff.
